Is there an easy way to locate Hail Damaged vehicles for sale? I am in the body repair industry. For side work, I look for vehicles that Auto Dealers may have taken in on trade recently with Hail Damage and repair them for resale. Usually I can find these vehicles in back of the dealership waiting to be sent to auction. However, they are few and far between. I am looking for an easier and more efficient way to locate Hail Damaged vehicles over a larger geographical area. Purchasing a 97 Ford Taurus GL - Need Some Advice!? Ok this is my situation. I’ve been looking for a new car to drive. (My other one is now broken) Recently a customer of mine (also friend) mentioned he might have a car for me. It is a 97 Ford Taurus GL. My friend is now a retired auto mechanic. He goes to car auctions and purchases cars for his nephew (who owns a car body shop) to fix up. You have to be an authorized dealership to purchase these cars. This car in particular didn’t have previous owners. It’s basically a car that sat at the dealership and simply didn’t sell. So my friend bought it and held it for me. He already replaced the brake pads, routers, and checked everything out. The inside is literally brand spanking new (along with the rest of the car inside and out) under the hood was good also. Checked the oil, belts, everything inside. Took it for a test drive and drove wonderfully. The mileage is only at 70,000. He’s helping me out in my time of need and giving it to me for $2500. (Originally purchased for about $1800 and was selling for $5600 when it was at the dealership) Now, I’m not afraid that he’s hiding something from me or anything, he’s a really good friend of ours but I’ve been researching the car online and have been hearing mostly negative comments about it. Now my question is, in my situation considering the price, condition, mileage etc… should I go ahead with this (take note also, I only have about $2700 to spend to buy a car right now) or should I still be looking? Do you think this is a good deal or scam or some hidden problem with car? Car info: - Selling from very small local private dealer, so there is no information about the reputation of the seller. - The car is a large SUV - v8 - gas 13/18 kind, ads priced at about 3000 below any other ads I found online, about 5000 below the average ads - even about 1000 below KBB trade-in price. - The auto history report shows pretty good. It was first registered at TEXAS at 2005, state inspection at 2007, auto auction at 2008 a few month ago. Showed the car was used as lease that seems like someone returns the car to dealer after 3 years. (Now, I am in New York seeing this car.) Concern 1 - Texas is famous for flooding. Concern 2 - If there could be any hidden problem. I am going to ask for an inspection from a mechanic I used for years. 2000 Ford Contour SE dashboard problem? i bought this car recently from an auto auction at a good price. the car runs fine. it does make a rumbling sound that can get annoying in the interior. I have reason to believe its because of the condition of the dash. you see, the dash looks like someone was beginning a repair on it and sloppily cut away a good portion of the section that meets the windshield. there are some online places that sell dash covers, i was thinking of getting that. my uncle recommends a dash cap, but i cant seem to find any online for this model. what do you guys think is the best action to take for repair. Any help is appreciated. Thanks bobweb - thanks for the input. im pretty sure the noise is coming from the dash. I did try to hold it and the noise seemed to subside. I'm cautious about putting bubble wrap under the dash or anything else due to the possibility of blocking something i shouldn't. thanks for the research on the covers. it seems like your saying once the noise has been isolated then put the cover over it for aesthetics. pvphelp - i don't seem to notice any major difference in sound when adjusting the ac or anything. OK, i it turns out that the shaking was coming from a loose vent on the dash near the windshield. it just needed to be taped down. i prob cut away some more of the dash to level it out and then put some foam and a cover over it.
How to sue over a car that is a lemon and was told it wasnt can you help please? I bought a car april 18th of this year, and picked it up on the 20th of april. Look at barrera-autosales.com, autoaven,com and stars-auto.com they have made some changes to the web page but it is still a scam site quote Denver News BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009 DENVER -- The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver. According to the BBB, calls have been nonstop and the BBB has sent a "cease and desist" notice regarding trademark infringement to the company because of a fake BBB report the sites link to that falsely shows the company with an A+ rating. The two Web sites list one physical address as 10701 W. Sixth Ave, but that address actually belongs to BBB Accredited business, Automotive Avenues, Inc. Another link goes to 3925 Monaco Parkway, which actually belongs to Cintas Document Management -- a paper shredding company. The two Web sites, www.stars-automart.com and www.autoaven.com, claim to offer sales of repossessed vehicles. The BBB said customers complain that once a majority payment is sent via MoneyGram to a Denver address, the company ceases communication. The company has not responded to the BBB. An Internet check shows the two domain names are registered to a private registration company in Sunnyvale, Calif. The BBB said it sent out the warning because on-delivery and Internet auction fraud were the top two complained-about fraud types at the Internet Crime Complaint Center. "The BBB takes complaints very seriously and does not want any more consumers to be victimized," a news release stated. TheDenverChannel attempted to contact the Web sites without success. The phone number listed on the site goes to a recording, which suggests callers contact them by e-mail. The same section of the stars-automart.com Web site lists a James Stewart as the owner. To protect from online scams, the BBB has the following suggestions: • Verify any organization credentials with the organization directly, (BBB, AutoTrader, Consumer Reports logos, etc.) • Check the company’s BBB report at www.denver.bbb.org or by calling 303-758-2100. Only do business online with websites you are familiar with and that have a positive track record. • Make sure the website has a privacy policy. It will contain agreements on how the information you provide on the website will be used and kept private and secure. Print this and keep it in your records. • The privacy policy may also contain the company’s mailing address. Only do business with companies that provide a sure method of contact, should something go wrong. • Do not wire transfer any payment. Wired funds cannot be traced and therefore cannot be recovered if you are a victim of fraud. • If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint. Please dont fall for this and report them to law enforcement
