how can i find out when police auctions are being held in my area?
im not looking to pay to belong to a site and dont want to bid on cars online im aware of the news paper but are there any sites that list the ones around you

- Call your local police departments or check your local paper. You can usually be added to a mailing list of the local police dept. and most states require prior notice in the local paper.
- Type this "police auctions by state" in Yahoo search and you should be able to find it from there. I did and found several good hits on the first page.
- Most law enforcement (city/county/state/federal) auctions are announced (by law) in a single local or regional newspaper on a certain day of the month. You could call the newspapers or call the law enforcement agencies directly to find out when and where the auctions are held. - john c, I found a review of several auto auction and government seized sites. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Government-Seized-Auto-Auctions.html These sites probabaly have a FAQ page to help you. However they cost a little bit to join, but I couldn't find any free resources online. Since the vehicles are always being sold, your signup fee is probably used to employ people to keep the site up to date.
